Rules of the Dojo
As it's been awhile since we were all last in the dojo, here is a reminder of the rules of the dojo. Just in case you have forgotten .
1. Bow - when entering or leaving a Dojo, when addressing a Black Belt, on and off the tatami (mats). Whenever your Instructor speaks to you in regard to instruction, bow and
acknowledge.
2. Do not enter the class late, without your instructor’s knowledge. Remain in the doorway until he / she bows you in.
3. Use the proper titles, when addressing a Black Belt, never use the Black Belt’s first name
when in the Dojo, although you may call them Sensei.
4. Th Sensei’s or Instructor’s command must be observed at all times.
5. There will be no smoking in the Dojo or any other unseemly behaviour.
6. Outdoor shoes will not be worn in the Dojo.
7. Wear complete uniforms in class, this means white suits with the appropriate belt.
8. No pupil will join or leave the class while the session is in progress without the Instructor’s permission.
9. Instruction will only take place under the supervision of a registered coach.
10. Do not talk in class, Instructors cannot teach if they cannot be heard.
11. Only perform the techniques that the class Instructor has shown you. ‘Variations’ are to be shown by the Instructor only.
12. No member will abuse or misuse their knowledge of Ju Jitsu.
13. Ju Jitsu methods will not be demonstrated outside of the Dojo to any person not authorised to receive them.
14. Strangle and ‘sleeper’ holds must never be practised except under the supervision of an Instructor.
15. Members will not participate in any Ju Jitsu display without permission of the Association or Academy.
16. Gradings will be held under the direction of the Academy or Association Coach and under the supervision of the style leader or his / her delegate (Grading Officer).
17. If a member suffers injury prior to a session this must be reported to the instructor. Injuries received during the session must be reported immediately to the Instructor in charge.
18. Violation of any of these rules renders a member liable for expulsion from the Association or Academy.
19. Long hair must be tied back neatly, and toenails to be cut short, with clean feet as personal hygiene is observed.
20. The Association or Academy will terminate the membership of any person they believe is unsuitable for Martial Arts training.
